Maitê Proença was born on January 28, 1958 in São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil as Maitê Proença Gallo. She is an actress, known for Passione (2010), Da Cor do Pecado (2004) and Die Lady aus dem Kino Shanghai (1987).

Mother of Maria, born on October 1990. Maria's godfather was actor Carlos Augusto Strazzer . Considered one of the most beautiful women in Brazil. She is a writer and has a column in the Brazilian magazine Época. A book was released with the best of her essays. She has a younger brother: René Augusto Proença Gallo ("Guto") born in 1963. Her mother was Margot Proença, a philosophy and music teacher. She died when Maitê was 12. Her father was Eduardo Gallo (died in 1989). Maitê posed for Playboy in 1996. In 2005 she published her first book: "Entre ossos e a escrita". She was nominated for a Shell Award as best theater actress for her role in the play "Isabel" (2000) and for a Qualidade Brazil Award for best supporting Tv actress (2004). She's also a Tv host: "Video Show" (1983), "Programa de Domingo" (1987) and "Saia Justa" (2006/2007). Started to study psychology in São Paulo but didn't finish the course. The soap "Dona Beija" was a big TV success in Brazil. Posed for Brazilian Playboy on February 1987. In 2006 Maitê wrote her first theater play "Achadas e Perdidas". The play was directed by Roberto Talma . Maitê studied in Sorbonne in the end of the 70's. Meet ex-husband Paulo in 1982. Won Award for best actress in Brasilia Festival for her role in "16060" (1995). In 1997 Maitê won Award for best actress in Salvador Festival for her role in "Vox Populi". In 2002 she made her debut as a theater producer with the play "Buda". As a child, Maitê studied in the American School. Between 1977/1978 she traveled around the world: Europe, Asia and Africa. She was in more than 30 countries. Her ex-boyfriend is Rodrigo Paiva. In 1979 Maitê had a car accident. She was submitted to two surgeries and had to stay in bed for almost a year.
